A Third-Generation Roofer Building a Fourth-Generation Company
Jason Blair is the President, Owner and Founder of Aastro Roofing Company and the driving force behind its mission to raise the standard of roofing in South Florida. Known publicly as The Expert Roofer, Jason has worked in the roofing industry since 1984 and has spent his career learning the business from every level—from carrying materials and installing roofing systems to estimating, sales, production management, financial oversight, executive leadership, and company ownership.
Jason is a third-generation roofer. He grew up in Hazel Park, Michigan, surrounded by relatives who worked in the trade. His father and grandfather were roofers, and roofing has been part of the Blair family’s history since the 1940s. Today, Aastro Roofing Company carries that tradition into a fourth generation.
Jason’s education in roofing began long before he had a formal job title. As a child, he walked roofs with his father and spent weekends helping on roofing projects. By the time he was a teenager, he had already been exposed to the physical demands of the trade, the importance of crew coordination, and the responsibility involved in protecting a building from water and weather.
Learning the Roofing Business from the Ground Up
By his early twenties, Jason was leading roofing crews as a foreman and supervisor. Working in the Detroit roofing market, he developed experience in both field production and commercial roofing operations. He progressed from labor and installation into estimating, supervision, project management, chief estimating, and general management.
Those years taught Jason that roofing performance depends on much more than the material visible on top of a building. A successful roofing contractor must understand labor, safety, scheduling, estimating, logistics, equipment, purchasing, documentation, customer expectations, project costs, and the consequences of mistakes.
The Florida hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005 changed the direction of Jason’s career. As storm damage created an overwhelming need for qualified roofing labor throughout South Florida, he helped bring crews, equipment, and roofing experience from Michigan to Florida. The work exposed him to the scale and complexity of Florida’s roofing market, where heat, tropical storms, wind-driven rain, coastal conditions, permitting requirements, and high-wind standards create unique challenges.
Jason later expanded his experience through sales, management, executive leadership, and large-company commercial roofing operations. That period reinforced a belief that would become central to Aastro Roofing Company: a roofing company cannot consistently produce professional results without professional infrastructure.
Founding Aastro Roofing Company
By late 2015, Jason believed it was time to build the company he had envisioned throughout his career. In 2016, he founded Aastro Roofing Company.
He did not set out merely to create another contractor capable of installing roofs. He wanted to change how a South Florida roofing company was organized, how its employees were trained, how projects were supervised, and how customers were treated.
Jason believed too many roofing businesses were built around temporary labor, day-to-day hiring, weak supervision, short-term pricing, and operating models that could not reliably produce consistent results. Those models might complete projects, but they often failed to build durable companies, accountable teams, or long-term customer relationships.
Jason chose a more difficult path. He set out to build Aastro around reputation, commitment, integrity, training, supervision, documentation, communication, safety, accountability, and long-term service.
His goal was to bring the structure and professionalism of large commercial roofing operations into residential roofing while bringing the communication, responsiveness, and personal customer care associated with residential service into commercial roofing.
Building Aastro Roofing Company from the Ground Up
In this Next Level CEO interview, hosted by Daymond John and presented by Inside Success Studios, Jason shares why he founded Aastro Roofing Company, the obstacles that shaped the business, the lessons that changed his leadership, and the vision driving its future.
A Training-First Roofing Company
One of Jason’s earliest priorities was creating a training culture. At Aastro Roofing Company, experience listed on an application does not automatically qualify someone to lead work in the field. Employees and crew members must demonstrate that they understand the roofing system, Aastro’s installation expectations, jobsite safety, property protection, and the documentation required for the project.
Training does not end once a person is approved. Roofing materials, manufacturer requirements, fastening patterns, adhesives, membranes, underlayments, building codes, safety requirements, and project-documentation technology continue to change.
That philosophy extends beyond installers. Aastro’s sales representatives, service technicians, project managers, production personnel, field supervisors, warehouse team, administrative staff, and leadership each operate within defined roles. The company’s structure is intended to replace improvisation with repeatable processes.
Building a Complete Roofing Organization
Under Jason’s leadership, Aastro Roofing Company grew from a new family business into a multi-million-dollar residential and commercial roofing organization serving South Florida.
The company works on single-family homes, multifamily properties, high-rise condominiums, homeowner and condominium associations, retail properties, warehouses, industrial facilities, offices, mixed-use properties, and other commercial buildings.
Its capabilities include roof repair, roof replacement, restoration, maintenance, inspections, emergency service, and installation across tile, shingle, metal, flat, single-ply, modified bitumen, built-up, and specialty roofing systems.
Reputation as the Business Model
Jason did not want Aastro’s growth to depend solely on advertising, low prices, or storm-driven demand. He wanted the company’s reputation to become the business model.
That means the work performed today must create the trust required for tomorrow’s customer. It means taking responsibility when something does not go as planned, documenting what was done, communicating honestly, and building relationships that extend beyond a single contract.
Aastro’s awards, certifications, reviews, and ratings support its credibility, but Jason does not view a badge or trophy as the final measure of success. The award is evidence. The standard behind it is what matters.
The Expert Roofer and Industry Education
Jason is also known as The Expert Roofer, a role that reflects his commitment to educating property owners rather than simply selling roofing work.
Through videos, interviews, social media, website content, public speaking, and customer consultations, Jason explains roofing systems, contractor selection, repair-versus-replacement decisions, storm damage, insurance considerations, permitting, warranties, maintenance, installation standards, and the risks created by improper roofing work.
Under Jason’s leadership, Aastro Roofing Company has built one of the most widely viewed roofing-focused YouTube channels in the world, reaching millions of subscribers and generating tens of millions of views through roofing education, real project documentation, community stories, and behind-the-scenes content.
Jason believes education helps reduce the information gap between roofing contractors and property owners. His goal is to help customers understand what they are purchasing, which questions they should ask, and how to recognize when an estimate leaves important work undefined.

Long before building Aastro Roofing Company, Jason was a coach. He has spent more than three decades involved in youth sports, particularly baseball. Coaching taught him how to evaluate ability, build confidence, establish expectations, correct mistakes, manage different personalities, and help people see potential in themselves before they fully recognize it.
Those lessons became part of his leadership style. Jason describes his larger purpose as being a builder of people.
Jason believes leadership is not simply directing people. It is helping them become more capable. Coaching and accountability work together: a leader must communicate the truth, establish clear expectations, recognize effort, correct behavior, and give people an opportunity to improve.
Mindset, Faith and Defining the Win
Jason’s approach to leadership and business is closely connected to his work on mindset. His book, The Millionaire Mindset: Control, Belief, and the Discipline to Build What Lasts, examines the internal disciplines behind sustainable success.
Its themes include personal responsibility, emotional control, visualization, belief, resilience, balance, faith, family, leadership, and defining success by more than money or public recognition.
Jason does not view mindset as positive thinking or a shortcut around difficult work. He views it as the discipline to control what can be controlled: preparation, effort, standards, decisions, responses, habits, and the meaning assigned to adversity.
Family, Community and Legacy
Aastro Roofing Company remains family-owned and operated. Jason works alongside members of his family and a leadership team that has grown with the company. The business now represents four generations of roofing tradition, combining knowledge passed down through the Blair family with modern systems, technology, training, and professional management.
That family culture extends into Aastro’s community involvement. Jason and Aastro have supported youth sports, local athletic programs, schools, charitable initiatives, community organizations, and families facing difficult circumstances.
Jason’s long-term vision extends beyond building a large roofing contractor. He wants to build a company capable of operating beyond its founder, a reputation that continues to create opportunity, a team that develops future leaders, and a family tradition carried into additional generations.
Jason founded Aastro Roofing Company to raise the bar. His responsibility now is to keep raising it.
