Can You Claim a New Roof on Home Insurance?
Sometimes—but coverage depends on what caused the damage, your policy, your deductible, the roof condition and the insurer’s claim decision. Aastro Roofing can inspect and document roofing conditions, but your insurance company determines coverage.
The Short Answer for Florida Homeowners
Homeowners insurance is generally designed for covered losses, not routine aging or deferred maintenance. If wind, a hurricane, a fallen tree or another covered event damages a roof, some or all of the necessary repair or replacement may be covered subject to the policy. Normal wear, deterioration and excluded causes may not be covered.
Important: A roofing contractor does not determine whether your policy covers a loss and should not interpret coverage for you. Read your policy and speak directly with your insurer, insurance agent or an appropriately licensed insurance professional about coverage questions.
What to Do After Roof Damage
1. Protect the Property
Take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage when it is safe to do so. Keep receipts for temporary protective work.
2. Document Conditions
Photograph visible damage before temporary repairs when possible. Keep dates, invoices, inspection information and other records.
3. Contact Your Insurer
Report the loss promptly and follow the claim instructions in your policy. Florida has time limits for windstorm and hurricane claim notices.
Does Roof Age Automatically Mean You Need a New Roof?
No. Florida law contains protections related to roof age for homeowners insurance. For a roof at least 15 years old, an insurer generally must allow an inspection by an authorized inspector before requiring replacement solely as a condition of issuing or renewing a homeowners policy. If that inspection indicates at least five years of useful life remaining, the insurer may not refuse to issue or renew solely because of roof age. Other lawful underwriting criteria can still apply.
Roof Insurance Deductibles in Florida
Your out-of-pocket amount depends on your policy and the cause of loss. Florida policies may involve an all-other-perils deductible, a hurricane deductible or, on some policies, a roof deductible. State consumer guidance says a roof deductible cannot be applied to a roof loss resulting from a hurricane. Review the declarations page and policy terms with your insurer or agent.
What Aastro Roofing Can—and Cannot—Do
We Can
Inspect roofing conditions, identify visible damage and system concerns, photograph and document roofing conditions, explain repair or replacement scope from a roofing perspective, and provide an itemized roofing proposal when appropriate.
We Do Not
Decide whether a loss is covered, act as your public adjuster, interpret insurance-policy coverage for you, promise that insurance will buy a roof, waive deductibles or submit an insurance claim on your behalf.
Repair or Replacement?
Even when damage is present, replacement is not automatically the right roofing recommendation. The decision can depend on the extent and location of damage, roof-system type, remaining serviceability, deck and flashing conditions, compatibility of repairs and applicable building requirements. Start with the roof itself, then let the insurance process address coverage.

Florida Roof Insurance FAQs
Does homeowners insurance automatically pay for a new roof?
No. Coverage depends on the policy, the cause and timing of the damage, deductibles, exclusions and the insurer’s claim decision. A roofing contractor can document roof conditions but does not decide coverage.
Does a roof older than 15 years automatically have to be replaced in Florida?
No. Florida law includes circumstances where an insurer must allow an inspection before refusing or limiting certain coverage based only on roof age. The policy, inspection findings and remaining useful life still matter.
Can Aastro Roofing tell me whether my insurance claim will be approved?
No. Aastro can inspect the roof, document observable conditions and provide roofing repair or replacement information. Coverage and claim decisions belong to the insurer and the policy.
Need the Roof Evaluated?
Aastro Roofing Company is a Florida Certified Roofing Contractor (CCC1330967) serving Palm Beach and Broward Counties. We can evaluate the roofing system and explain the roofing options without promising an insurance outcome.
